Action!

Many of you have expressed your concern to me regarding the current crisis in the porn industry, while I have made it clear that I deeply share in your pain. It's a good thing we had each other to lean on during these dire straits. It looks like we've managed to pull through:

Holding a video camera, the 38-year-old director stood behind the naked actor and near-naked actress on the wooden staircase and yelled, "Rolling and action!"

Then "Mr. Pete," a 20-something with cropped brown hair and lots of tattoos, and "Jada Fire," sporting a black bra and panties set and spike-heeled platform shoes, began having sex on the staircase.

With scenes like this one, the U.S. pornographic film industry, which until mid-May had been shut down for nearly a month by an HIV scare, was back in business. Said director Axel Braun of the filming, "It was so beautiful, I didn't want it to stop."

The shoot in a house in the San Fernando Valley section of Los Angeles, home to a large segment of the U.S. pornographic film industry, was among the first since the shutdown.

Breathing easy, coasting into the three day weekend.

God, the wording of that article is so funny.

began having sex on the staircase.

Said director Axel Braun of the filming, "It was so beautiful, I didn't want it to stop."

You and me both, buddy.

You know, it's not like this was a crisis for the viewers out there. With all the porn films they crank out a year, someone could probably watch three films a day for ten years without ever having to watch the same one twice.

Posted by: Bill McCabe at May 28, 2004 12:24 PM

Who said I was talking about viewers?

Posted by: Emily at May 28, 2004 12:24 PM

Well, I had no idea that so many performers had expressed concern to you. Just what kind of friends do you have?

Posted by: Bill McCabe at May 28, 2004 12:27 PM

Actually, I only really know one person who has worked in porn. She used to egg me on to "rent her". I hope she didn't take it too personally when I told her I had no interest in watching her fuck a bunch of strangers.

And Sheila -- that "it was beautiful" remark caught my eye as well. You'd think the guy was watching Neil Armstrong land on the moon or something.

Posted by: Emily at May 28, 2004 12:35 PM

I can't imagine having an interest in seeing any of my friends screw a bunch of strangers on camera. It just isn't my bag, you know.

Posted by: Bill McCabe at May 28, 2004 12:38 PM

Only two people? I thought that wasn't porn anymore.

Ken, Ken...you're so out of touch.

Posted by: Emily at May 28, 2004 01:07 PM

I have a friend I'd like to see have sex with a stranger.

Of course, by stranger, I mean me.

Posted by: BH at May 28, 2004 01:31 PM

I guess. I thought nowadays it was only porn with at least three people and/or non-people.

Posted by: Ken Summers, Honorary Jew at May 28, 2004 01:52 PM

There are still enough old-fashioned types out there who prefer the traditional oneguy/one girl scenario from their porn to warrant the market, Ken.

Posted by: Emily at May 28, 2004 01:58 PM

Damn prudes.

Posted by: fad at May 28, 2004 02:09 PM

Hey, just because you're into all that barnyard crap("farm accident", my ass), doesn't mean you should judge others.

Posted by: Emily at May 28, 2004 02:13 PM

Fine, live your buttoned down life. Me? I'm liberated and loving it.

Posted by: fad at May 28, 2004 02:17 PM

Let's hope the pigs and horses would say the same.

Posted by: Emily at May 28, 2004 02:27 PM

Don't go all PETA on me, babe.

Posted by: fad at May 28, 2004 03:17 PM

Oh my gosh, I can't even begin to express how much I hate porn and all the fat cat's getting rich on those people. Comcast, Time Warner, The Hilton, Fox News (conservative station) andthe list goes on and on.

I'm truly not a prude. I am a christian. It really has nothing to do with religion to me. The depth of danger it goes to and the downline of these porn industry preys on young girls under 18. I have a daughter and a grand daughter. I can say no more.

Breath that the aids did not go furthur That We are Not Aware of or the industry would crumble if the truth came out of how wide spread AIDS is.

Sorry, I'm just a Mom.

Posted by: Janelle at May 28, 2004 03:37 PM

Janelle,
The thing is, "those people" are getting rich, too. Porn pays too much money, on all ends. The thing is, porn preys on almost anyone who's willing (I'm not, and if I might be totally honest, for all of my talk here, I've hardly touched the stuff).

It's been really hard for me to make humor over this crisis, given that I've seen more friends to their graves due to their punishment for blatant sexual exploits (if you're not swift to get a clue: AIDS), but I know that human sexuality can't be stopped or contained.

You, as a Mom and a Grandmom, obviously have a different perspective than I do. Mine is only that, thanks to my own moms and grandmoms, I've learned the self-respect, confidence and education that steers me away from an industry that I truly find to be utter crap.

Posted by: Emily at May 28, 2004 05:50 PM

I'm not, and if I might be totally honest, for all of my talk here, I've hardly touched the stuff

This is tantamount to my admitting a deep admiration for French history and culture.

What's next? An admission that you actually hate Lord of the Rings and fully endorse the tenets of Bolshevism?

Posted by: Bill McCabe at May 29, 2004 05:59 AM

"I've hardly touched the stuff."

Then the terrorosts have already won.

My I make the observation that Seether is neither loose nor tight? I just wanted to let you know that. (The song is on the radio. It's an all-90s weekend here in Disney World.)

And as for the news.... all I can say is yes yes oh yes OH YES YES GO BABY GO YES OH GOD.

Posted by: Andrea Harris at May 29, 2004 11:38 AM

PS: I never touch the stuff either. I wear gloves. (You never know where those containers have been, or what the other people handling them had previously been, er, handling. Ew.)

Posted by: Andrea Harris at May 29, 2004 11:44 AM

I was going to try to make an intelligent comment here but Andrea's last comment made me sputter and I've now got to go clean the keyboard...

Posted by: Kathy K at May 29, 2004 04:56 PM

Touch porn? I thought the point of the Internet was that people would never have to do that again.

Posted by: Ian S. at May 30, 2004 08:29 AM

What can I say, guys? I prefer the real thing.

Posted by: Emily at May 30, 2004 11:59 AM

yep.

all is right with the world now that people can fuck for fun and profit again.

lets all celebrate and masturbate!

woo.

Posted by: the mighty jimbo at May 31, 2004 08:44 AM

Great idea, Jimbo.

Excuse me. I'll be back in ten minutes. Or less.
