Kathy found it!

Ever since the new design for the rebuilt World Trade Center hit the airwavespixels, I've been looking for a copy of my favorite design, which circulated by email shortly after 9/11. I couldn't locate a copy.

Turns out Kathy K had my copy.

Bless your heart, Kathy. Thanks for keeping it safe.

I saved that one back in 2001. I still think it's the best design out there...

There were many similar designs. I was in Australia at the time, and somehow found one, and printed out two: one to keep at work, and one at home. I sent it to a friend in the US, and he said it made him feel better. I still have them around here somewhere.

Seriously, my favorite design is one some friend of Charles Johnson's came up with, where the new towers are built around the locations of the original, so that the originals are voids in the new buildings. I figure that might be aerodynamically impractical, but no more so than many of the actual designs they were considering.
