Trip report

Well, it was a great trip, despite some transit issues (i.e., a flat tire I had to change in the airport parking lot at 11:00p.m. when I got back).

Besides work, I got a chance to meet up with Dave, as you know. Saw some of the sights of Bahston but had to save many more for my next trip.

Then on Thursday, I met up with a distant relative (third cousin, in fact) I didn't even know about until a couple of months ago. I was contacted through a genealogical website and we traded information and pictures. We had already established that the fella's grandfather had lived and worked at my family's ranch and sure enough, Thursday we found both his grandfather and his father in pictures in one of my family's photo albums, captioned rather cryptically with only a first name. Way cool. His father is still living and remembers being at the ranch in his early childhood (the pics were from the 1920s), though I didn't get a chance to meet him.

Friday after work, I managed to zip up to Lexington for the Art Buchwald tour. Snapped a bunch of pics at the Lexington Green, saw Buckman Tavern (from the outside only, it's the off season), and snapped more pics before the batteries and daylight gave out.

Saturday morning, I did the Art Buchwald tour of Concord. Snapped pics of the Emerson and Alcott houses and the Wayside Tavern, then zipped up to the Minuteman Historical Park. Snapped pics of the Old North Bridge and the Concord Minuteman statue, the Bullet House, and other points of interest. The park includes, gratifyingly, a grave marker for the three British soldiers killed in the bridge skirmish (no hard feelings, chaps). There's far too much to see in only two hours, but it leaves a lot for my next trip.

Then I hightailed it for the airport and lit out grinning for the setting sun.

Word is he held out this time because he forgot his fishnets and you know what a perfectionist he is at getting those dances just right.

True enough. However, he did strip to his BVDs and perform a magnificent rendition of "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend".

Aw shucks, folks. And then the three of you woke up. :-p

We did sleep through it, Dave, but luckily somebody got it on tape.

Were you gentlemen responsible for this?

Angie, I'm 3000 miles away.

But Dave's still around there...
