The Daily Condemnation

I hope that my co-bloggers will join me, along with others, in fully condemning right wing hate monger Tim Blair for suggesting Robert Fisk should thrown out of an airplane.

However, this does bear the question. If Fisk were thrown out of an airplane by pshyco Islamofascist hijackers, would he think he deserved it?

"Fully condemn"? I thought it was supposed to be "unequivocally condemn", or perhaps it was "unilaterally condemn". Or perhaps Blair deserves his own special category of RWDB condemnation. This is so confusing.

But yes, Fisk would think he deserved it. On this we agree.

And I condemn myself for that last comment.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at July 20, 2006 10:31 AM

Or, if he were thrown out of aforementioned plane, would he make a sound?

And yes, I "heartily" condemn Tim. Or is that "forcefully?"

Posted by: Patti at July 20, 2006 10:45 AM

Ken, have you not been paying attention the last few years, no one, NO ONE, is allowed to act unilaterally any more. And if you have less than half the world agreeing with you, you are obviously strong arming those that agree with you, and their numbers can't be that big anyway.

It's my understanding that this rule applies to condemnations, that is why everyone always calls on others to condemn some third party's action, but are generally unwilling to do so themselves.

Though, Fisk being thrown out of a plane reminds me of a jr high joke... What's the last thing to go through a bug's mind when he hits a windshield? Answer: His ass.

Posted by: KG at July 20, 2006 10:46 AM

I don't think it's that bad to "unilaterally condemn" someone since it's taken on the much less severe definition of "everybody except Germany and France."

Only if he was soundly beaten beforehand.

Patti, I condemn you for even thinking force, even if you were condemning Tim for him suggesting that Fisk be thrown out of an airplace, even though Fisk must be condemned for wanting to get beating.

However, Mr. Bingley has a point: therefore, we must know if an impact following such tossing over land would condemn the human race to an extinction event.

The middle of the Pacific. That'll work.

And as for Tim, I'll be asking Emily to condemn him while I remain silent.

With hideous ruine and combustion down
To bottomless CONDEMNATION, there to dwell
In Adamantine Chains and penal Fire,
Who durst defie Truth In Reporting.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Oh, wait, that's a real one...

It's one small rebuke for a man; one giant condemnation for mankind.

Tim had not stipulated whether Fisk was to be thrown from the plane sans parachute. Terminal velocity could be determined without Fish being splatted over a 20 square metre area.

So, with that in mind, I think it would be a disproportionate response to "fully" condemn Tim. And you would not want to be "disproportionate" now?

I condemn the evil tim at full 'fiskspeed' with a compassionate headtilt thrown in for good measure. I hope this is a proportionate response and has been fully authorised by France and China. No Korans were defiled during the posting of this comment.

Jonathan,
I condemn you for not innately knowing that you can.

Posted by: Emily at July 22, 2006 07:35 AM

no no no no....this is just wrong. But I can't condemn you for this.

What has happened to peace and love and understanding. Why can't we just all stop for a moment, smell the flowers, and sing kumbaya.

having said that....I find my lack of faith in condemnation disturbing.

Condemning how? What's condemning about it? Let me understand this. Maybe I'm a little f'd up.

But I'm condemning how? Condemning like a clown? I condemn you? I'm here to f'ing amuse you? What do you mean, condemning? How am I condemning?

I condemn Zoe for her blantant 'send me money' tactic - and for thinking of it first.

Those who can't, condemn.

(So I guess that means that those who can are comdemned to a lifetime of condemnations from the afforementioned comdemners who can't.)

Are we to become nothing more than a nation of condemners?

A Condemn Nation?

I think that all good, right thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that all good, right thinking people in this country are fed up with being told that all good, right thinking people in this country are fed up with being sick and tired. I'm certainly not, and I'm sick and tired of being told that I am! -- Monty Python

Those who do not learn from history are condemned ...

And the Pope thinks you shouldn't use condemns ...

I am a bit worried about people like Tim Blair.

Anyone with a name like "Tim" is a bit suspect to begin with.

He seems to have had a difficult childhood, having no doubt been deprived of his mother's milk at numerous points in his stunted development.

Having read a lot of the comments posted on his site, one can easily recognise a lot of contributors from the redneck areas of southern America, many of whom are currently out on bail after being charged with being right wing extremists.

Do we need people like Blair in Australia or should they be deported, like Irving.

He will find a more native environement in parts of America, but surely not here
