Spamming itself is bad enough. Spamming a 2996 post is cause for death, motherfucker. Posted by Ken S at September 12, 2006 05:43 AM | TrackBack (0) |

that's really, really screwed up.

karma can't come fast enough for this one.

I hope he did it from Virginia so he can get some of the sweetness they dealt out to Jeremy Jaynes.

Even worse, in my opinion, was the snot from Norway who kept showing up on my post to tell me how I was "exaggerating" - that Mr. Pascuma was no special-er than anybody else who died (uhm, I never said he was) and how come I don't write tribute posts for all the OTHER people who die in the world (uhm - do I have the time to do such a thing?) - and why do I think that the 9/11 victims are DIFFERENT than other victims (uhm, I kind of don't - nowhere in my post did I say that - it was a tribute post) - He informed me that I only care about 9/11 (has he read the rest of my site?) He said I only felt sad because I had "watched it on TV". (Uhm - I was here that day, jagoff. I watched it happen with my own eyes.) I kept deleting his comments, and not engaging him (I try not to engage with morons) - but he kept coming back. I finally banned him. His last comment was finally like: "I guess it's not appropriate that I am making these comments today." Uhm - YA THINK???

wow, red.

what kind of a dark place does a person have to be in to piss all over the kind tributes that people are paying?

Yes, EVERYONE is special. Yes, everyone deserves to be mourned and remembered when they die. (And, I hope to God that I am, when I do).

but there's something about what happened that day - these were not people who got the chance to die in bed, with their families around them, after having had a chance to say goodbye.

what all the 2996 people did was what people of the Jewish faith call a mitzvah; a kind act with no expectation of repayment.

it kinda stinks that the "repayment" some people are getting is spam or deranged lunatics criticising them for what they chose to do with their time on their own blogs...

(Actually, I'm betting Mr. Norway is probably 14, pimply, and a dead ringer for either Beavis or Butthead. And he probably thinks what he has done is oh-so-brave and oh-so-meaningful. I've met many of that type.)

I was going to get into it with him - but then I thought: No. That, too, is inappropriate for this day - and so that is the privilege of running your own blog: the DELETE button. I deleted about 4 comments from this guy before I finally banned him. Oslo geek.

I was afraid of attracting trolls but fortunately none so far.

Ken,

Do you want them killed quickly or slowly? Or should I just use my imagination?

Posted by: Tainted Bill at September 12, 2006 01:04 PM

Sheila,
What a complete tool. Are we going to have to write every tribute post in the world with disclaimers that read "yes, and I am sad for all other senseless deaths in the world"?

Oslo retard. Go throw yourself off a fjord.

Posted by: Emily at September 12, 2006 01:06 PM

Your imagination, by all means.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at September 12, 2006 01:08 PM

Sheila - that was outstanding restraint and I am humbled. I don't know what on earth I would have done if that had happened in my place, but firearms may have prominently featured.

Posted by: Nightfly at September 12, 2006 02:48 PM

Nightfly - hahahaha I know - I spent a couple of minutes crafting an INSANELY ANGRY response - but then I thought of the Pascuma family perhaps one day tripping upon the post, and I just didn't want his assholery to muck up my tribute. He was trying to dominate me, and dominate the conversation - and even engaging with him would have let him do that.

And he kept coming back!

Oh, the power of delete delete delete delete

Buh-bye, Norwegian Nerd.

I turned comments off on my 2996 post and deleted every single comment the post had attracted, because every single one was an attack on British and/or American foreign policy.

We must understand why the spammers hate us. And give sanctions a chance to work.

I've seen several arguments over the years that citing OA articles makes it easy for readers to verify that authors are accurately representing their sources, while citing TA articles makes this difficult and protects authors who want to blow smoke.
