"Lady and the Tramp"?

:-P

Posted by: Julie at September 23, 2006 11:28 AM

Not even close, but I'm guessing you figured that. ;)

Posted by: Emily at September 23, 2006 11:40 AM

"Benji in Beverly Hills"

Which is a made up title......I've no idea whatsoever!

:-D

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at September 23, 2006 12:50 PM

All I can think of is "Best in Show".

Posted by: Tainted Bill at September 23, 2006 01:13 PM

After much thinking and diligent research, I can only come up with this possibility.

And I might be wrong! ;-P

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at September 23, 2006 01:41 PM

You're all idiots. It's obviously "The Dark Crystal."

(Totally off-the-topic aside here: The other day a friend of mine had a guest from out of town, and we took him to the Mall to go museum-hopping. At American History, they had the original Emmet Otter and his Ma in a display case. It was by far the coolest thing I saw during our whole day at the Smithsonian. Not that all the other stuff isn't utterly cool, but come on. It's Emmet Otter!)

Posted by: Jeff Harrell at September 23, 2006 07:15 PM

Jeff,
Don't ever call my readers idiots. Especially since the're people I care about.

It's not The Dark Crystal.

I've seen Animal House.

Posted by: Emily at September 23, 2006 08:28 PM

hahaha I love that he calls us idiots - and then makes the wrong guess himself.

Is it Baxter - your favorite movie? No. I know it;s not. What is UP with that microphone? I have no idea what this is from.

Posted by: red at September 24, 2006 06:35 AM

Who can you think of that has dogs howling during their music?

Posted by: Emily at September 24, 2006 07:23 AM

"Josie and the Pussycats"??

:0)

Posted by: Julie at September 24, 2006 08:38 AM

As one of your readers, I'm touched that you came to our defense, but I'm not sure he was serious, about either the movie or calling us idiots. I suspect it was an (albeit flat) attempt at humor.

If I'm wrong, though, go get 'im, Emily.

Posted by: Brian B at September 24, 2006 09:31 AM

I was kind of buzzed when I responded last night. But I'm pretty sure he was joking too. Sorry, Jeff...

Posted by: Emily at September 24, 2006 12:04 PM

The idiots comment combined with the Jim Henson reference (Dark Crystal) made me think of Sam the Eagle in The Great Muppet Caper:

"You are all...weirdos!"

Posted by: Dave J at September 24, 2006 01:41 PM

But we still don't know what movie you are teasing us with, Emily!!! Me, I've no idea which one that photo came from.....are you going to leave your fans dangling all weekend?

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at September 24, 2006 01:59 PM

WEIRDOS. Dammit. That's what it was. Sam the Eagle is exactly what I was going for, but I flubbed it. Woops.

Posted by: Jeff Harrell at September 24, 2006 02:27 PM

Is it just me or does that dog look a bit like Matthew McConaughey?

Posted by: KG at September 24, 2006 04:56 PM

God, I miss The Muppet Show. Sam the Eagle! There's a blast from my past!

Posted by: Brian B at September 24, 2006 07:45 PM

Are you going to clue us in, Miss Emily?

Posted by: Julie at September 25, 2006 07:03 AM

Sam the Eagle - hahahahahahahahahahhaha!!!

Posted by: red at September 25, 2006 07:13 AM

Hint.

Posted by: Emily at September 25, 2006 07:24 AM

Good lord. I totally feel like a moron - and I know that I will slap my head in true "DOH" fashion when I find out what this movie is.

Pompeii?? Okay, I'm backing out now.

Posted by: red at September 25, 2006 08:25 AM

OK, here's Moron #2's guess: "Joe and the Volcano"???

:-D

Posted by: Julie at September 25, 2006 08:30 AM

Another hint.

Posted by: Emily at September 25, 2006 08:50 AM

This is Spinal Tap?

Posted by: KG at September 25, 2006 08:55 AM

Hahahaha. No, but there are genuine "Spinal Tap" moments in this movie.

Posted by: Emily at September 25, 2006 08:56 AM

OK, thanks to Emily's numerous hints (and no thanks to my lack of knowledge in this particular genre), here is my guess.

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at September 25, 2006 08:58 AM

And the winner is JeffS!

Posted by: Emily at September 25, 2006 08:59 AM

I must also credit the search function at IMDb. Typing in "Pink Floyd" helped to bring me this undeserved honor.

It also scratched my curiousity bump.

Thanks for the puzzler, Emily!

Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at September 25, 2006 09:01 AM

Oh for God's sake - of course!!! Good job, Jeff!

Posted by: red at September 25, 2006 09:17 AM

It wasn't an easy one, for sure. There are some classic moments in this movie where you can just TELL that Christopher Guest as Nigel Tufnel was channeling these guys. In one scene, David Gilmour goes off about how he doesn't understand why people think of Pink Floyd as a "drug band" or something like that. All I could do is stare at the screen, blink my eyes and ask out loud "are you fucking serious?"

Posted by: Emily at September 25, 2006 09:56 AM

hahahahahahaha

Posted by: red at September 25, 2006 10:11 AM

Sheila -- isn't that hysterical? I know they all get kind of defensive when it comes to the subject, especially since Roger Waters was pretty tyranical when it came to drug use while they were recording. He didn't want anyone so much as smoking pot. But when your founding ex-member is rock and roll's most famous surviving drug casualty and your music is an enduring staple for almost ever last stoner in the universe, there shouldn't be much to wonder about.

Posted by: Emily at September 25, 2006 10:38 AM

And it doesn't help when you have songs with titles like "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" or album covers featuring nothing but a cow's ass.

Up next: Footage of Liberace pondering why everyone thinks he's a homo.

Posted by: Emily at September 25, 2006 10:44 AM

Liberace's a homo? When did this happen?

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at September 25, 2006 11:49 AM

Also, Emily - the clothes alone give away the drug use. I mean, come on. Who are you guys kidding?

Posted by: red at September 25, 2006 12:46 PM

Ken, the "nature vs. nurture" argument still goes on about that.... (grin)

Posted by: Julie at September 25, 2006 01:19 PM

Oh god, the CLOTHES are a dead giveaway. I love it when these guys react to the whole "drug band" image. Gee, how could anyone possibly think that a rock band formed in the late 60s that basically invented psychedelia might have dabbled in drugs? That's just too far a stretch.
