Work update

It's still heavy, but at least today I get to use CHAPS.

I just thought you'd like to know that.

75 lo-cal MBP points to anyone who gets the joke.

UPDATE: Ha ha! In a strange way, this post seems a good one to link to, even if he doesn't mention CHAPS.

Color me stupid, but I have no idea what you're talking about.
What is the weather like on your planet, Ken?

Partly cloudy today.

Hey, great website! And an outstanding supplier! :-) (Mebbe I'm biased...)

"Zwitterionic", eh?

Thanks for the illumination.
Now you can 'splain what a lo-cal MBP point is.
:-P

My guess is that CHAPS is one-a them there acronym thingies.

What for, I haven't a clue. Charley-Horse Anti-Positron Systems? Clueless Happy Assholes Proposing Sillyideas?

Clicked on the link. Okay...so you're solubilizing membrane proteins. What are you, some kind of CSI type?

"White Crystalline Powder"....Ken, you're not planning on sending any hate mail to CBS news or suchlike, are you?

Posted by: ricki at October 24, 2006 10:26 AM

Not planning to send any, but should the opportunity arise...

Julie, the very first such reference is here in the comments, Bingley figured it out here in the comments, and the origin of the term is here. It's not much of a joke, but 'tis mine.

Aw, Ken, you may be an MBP to some, but you'll always be a big ol' amoeba to me. :-)

Movin' on up the evolutionary ladder...

I always thought CHAPS was an Erik Estrada reference - you know, highway cops on horseback. Put on yer goggles, there're subtexts flying all over the place here.

Posted by: Nightfly at October 24, 2006 03:01 PM

Subtext? Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

I guess so.
At the New York Public Library, they call it "reading between the lions". (http://www.nypl.org/pr/lions.cfm)
