Two questions

1) Is Sean Penn so debilitated by years of drug use that he doesn't see the supreme irony of accepting a "free speech" award and publicly attacking the government while claiming that the government is censoring people and crushing dissent?

2) Why is there a "free speech" award named for Christopher Reeve?

1) No. He is just smug, humorless and stupid.

2) Because he played Superman? I think? Um?

1) Disagreement = censorship, and rebuttal = crushing dissent: but only as long as you're right. Or, failing that, if you care more.

2) I have an answer here that will consign me to the fires of Hell. I'd better not.

Hey, Sean Penn went to Iraq before the war! Therefore, you'd better not say anything against him, or you may find yourselves the targets of the dreaded open letter.

Someone get Nightfly an indulgence for Christmas, I wanna know what his answer was.

Marc,
Those open letters aren't "dreaded" at all. They're fucking hysterical. Bring it, Sean. We could always use a little bit of extra holiday cheer.

(I read an interview with Trey Parker and Matt Stone after he wrote them their beloved "open letter" when he got all pissed off at them for DARING to mock him in Team America. Whichever one of them initially came to the other to show him the letter - I can't remember which one - was certain he was the object of some kind of joke. Well, technically, you could argue that he was, it was just an unintentional one.)

Let's name a free speech award after Jyllands-Posten.
