Note to skeptics: Don't be a dick. God knows I'm as skeptical and capable of mocking religion as anyone, but there's a time and place and this is not it.

Thanks for the link, Ken. You missed out on what-all this troll had to say. I don't mind if he's obnoxious about more impersonal matters, but this is a five-year-old girl with cancer, for God's sake.

I'll keep you posted as we learn more about Mary Claire. Thanks to anybody who prays (and for good wishes from anybody who doesn't).

Wow...what kind of bitter crap-ass person do you have to be to piss all over a request like that?

And yeah - like Joel said - I know people who had cancer who were cured "inexplicably" or "miraculously" (depending on the belief system of the doctor describing it).

So yeah, good thoughts and prayers goin' her way.

Maybe prayers don't heal cancer as much as they possibly help to console the people and their loved ones who have to live and die with it. That "cholo" person is an asshole. When are in-your-face athiests going to learn that they're as equally obnoxious as in-your-face Christians or other types of religious missionaries?

Exactly. I have no illusions that I can cause any particular change in anyone's medical condition but knowing that others have one in their thoughts can help ease the hurt a little.

I don't get why he keeps insisting that people NOT pray. Whatever your level of belief or non-belief, how could praying POSSIBLY hurt?

I don't think atheists do that. I think theists who are mad at God do that.

I've taken to deleting him as soon as his comments appear. Life's too short. My wife, on the other hand, is amusing herself by creatively editing his comments as they come in.

Thanks again to anybody who prayed. Last I heard they were going to try chemo, but it didn't look hopeful.
