Breaking news

My God, I can't believe this. I just got a breaking news alert from the SacBee:

Subject: Breaking News Alert: Cyclists closing in on Davis

Cyclists in the Tour of California bike race have left Winters and are now closing in on Davis.

Seriously, that's what it said. I'm sure you all feel the same as I about this incredibly important breaking (Away?) news.

Compared to "Brittney Spears shaves head," this is a fucking report from the front lines of D-Day.

I *love* "Breaking Away"! It's another one of those perfect movies where EVERYONE is great... Paul Dooley, Barbara Barrie, Daniel Stern (love his line about failing a test: "My dad's birthday is coming up..."), Dennis Christopher, Dennis Quaid... but my favorite was Jackie Earle Haley as Moocher. *Sigh* Thanks for reminding me, Ken. It's time to rent it again! :-)

I'm disappointed, Ken. Where's the link to the live chopper coverage? Or is that just an LA thing?

Run away! Run away! Run--

Oh hey, I found a quarter under the couch! Now I can buy a soda.

What?

"You are all weirdos."

I saw Breaking way for the fist time a few weeks ago. It is, like Julie says, one of those unadorned films where everything clicks in ways movies simply no longer do.

The guy who played Moocher in "Breaking Away" (Jackie Earl Haley) is up for Best Supporting Actor for an Oscar for playing the pedophile in "Little Children."

Anyone remember him from "The Bad News Bears"?
