That poor girl.

I know, Bingley. But she is impressing the hell out of me with her maturity and bravery. Come to think of it, she always has. What a terrible loss. Check out Matt Welch's photo tribute here. He was a friend of Cathy's and there's some beautiful, happy stuff there.

And here's Matt at Overtaken. A lovely tribute. Most of them are. I hope people keep dropping links everywhere. That Jim Treacher one was funny. Cancel Your dinner plans indeed, Sir. A very special new occupant is arriving.

Her bravery and maturity are a glorious credit to both her and her mother.

Indeed, Mr. B.

Goddammit I have to stop reading those links you gave above here at the office. The "I've got something in my eye that's why I'm crying" excuse really doesn't cut it.

I suppose it works better than "I've been slicing onions all morning." But yeah, there's a lot of touching stuff out there. I love how most of it is just HAPPY and, for the most part, classy.

(Let's not go there in talking about the trolls, guys. They don't deserve it and Cathy and her family and friends certainly don't. If any of them show up here, they will be deleted. PERIOD.)

She and her writing will be dearly missed.

I really appreciate her sentiments about lung cancer (via Estrich) being thrown to the back burner research-wise because it's in the legion of "that disease is their own damn fault" and is gross under-funded compared to its peers. Further, all of the tobacco awards going to repair highways, etc. Why not send some monies to lung cancer research? Oh, that's right. It's their own damn fault.

Col. Burton T. Miller, USAF, Ret., deceased at age 73, survived lung cancer after having one lung lobe removed. The cancer reappeared 15 years later in his esophagus. He smoked for 3 whole years as a teenager and never since. His own damn fault? Not likely.

Yea, Cathy! You will be missed and I donated the money I had earmarked for a damn purse to lung cancer today. Thank you.

it's terribly sad. Cathy was an occasional read for me. Perhaps I should have gotten to know her better. She seems like the kind of person I would have loved to know.

here's a pretty comprehensive obit/ tribute roundup/
