So I'm swamped at work and didn't get any chance to try to track this down. Maybe some of you have seen something.
I heard on the radio this morning that some lefty blogs or news outlets are trying to claim that Don Imus as a "conservative". As I noted here, I listened a tiny bit to Imus some years back when the show was on a local station that I normally listened to anyway. Not overly offensive, nor overly entertaining, in the little bit I listened to, but absolutely NO WAY "conservative" in any way that I could hear. Total Clinton suckup.
And no, that's not why I stopped listening to that station in the morning. It's because he just wasn't very funny (with rare exceptions noted in the link).

Posted by: Dave E. at April 12, 2007 08:13 PMSounds like the spin is starting in earnest.....time to blame the eeeeevul Rethuglican neo-conservatives!

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at April 13, 2007 04:53 AMI've listened to odd bits of his program from time to time. My conclusion was that he was (at least) slightly left-of-center, but my main conclusion was that his show simply didn't interest me - he didn't seem to be saying much of substance on the times when I listened to him, and it it seemed he and his buddies were kind of like a slightly sanitized version of Howard Stern.
I actually find "local" talk radio hosts a lot more entertaining; generally they don't have an all-consuming ego that sucks the fun out of their rants.
Yeah, in what little I ever heard I didn't find Imus entertaining. The local talk show folks I love, but the "shock jocks" are far more offensive than what I heard from Imus. I actually don't get "offended" by them, I just don't find fart jokes and such very funny.
The worst local one I can remember was Perry Stone, who was on KSJO in San Jose years ago. A lot of people thought he was funny but I didn't. He finally went over the line on something and got fired.
I've been happier on the morning commutes since I started listening to KSFO because the worst thing about the morning "shock" shows and such is that they are so common that you can hardly find a music format at that time anymore. A Sacto station I listen to periodically started up with the "Bob and Tom" show (ironically bumping their former morning music DJs Bob and Tom). Fortunately, KUFX in San Jose dumped Imus and hired Greg Kihn, although I rarely listen since I found the KSFO morning show.
Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at April 13, 2007 05:34 AMOf course he's conservative. Don't you know conservative means racist, closedminded, and short-sighted.
