The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).

I wouldn't want to sound like I missed the point, but in fact, the savings for the first four men is zero, if we're following the same pattern as the other. (That is, that "savings" means "savings over the initial arrangement of $100 total".) The fifth has 100% savings.

Joel, the sentence is (mostly) correct. The phrase "like the first four" refers to his paying nothing. The "100% savings" refers to only the fifth man, but it does kind of dangle there, probably incorrectly.

And yes, it's Friday and we're all waiting for The Emster's post.
