Still crazy after all these years.

Did you see under the article there was a link to an article about some controversy over the Critical Mass attack video?

I didn't. Thanks for noting it, Kate.

Critical Mass cyclist Jason Meggs who shot the video would only agree to give ABC7 an edited version of the raw footage.
But of course.

This is the government's job how? Why? Jerry Brown is a pinhead.

Like Nightfly said, if one was so concerned with the fuel effeciency of their car couldn't they just...by a more fuel efficent or hybrid car?

Oh, but that's not it. They want to make your car fuel effiecient, whether or not you want that.

The truth is that auto makers will fight anythng that hurts their ability to market to all types and limiting consume choice does just that.

That's all well and good, but I'm just trying to figure out under what law and what legal theory he thinks he can sue.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at May 14, 2007 08:54 AM

California can (and has) set it's own standards. The Fed numbers are minimums.

But he's suing the feds for not raising their standards enough. That's what I don't get.

Deep pockets, maybe? Although I agree with one point in the article, this is political grandstanding, at least in part.

Plus, let us remember, Jerry Brown is an idiot.

Yeah. For a while, during his stint as mayor of Oakland, it seemed like someone had taken a reality club to him. Sadly, I guess not...

I didn't know the guy was still around, let alone attorney general. Only in California!

I think Brown drank the stupid juice during his cavorting with Linda Ronstadt.

Man. Thanks for reminding me to select the category, Jeff.

His legal argument (not stated in the report) must be ... interesting. Presumably weak as hell, but interesting.

Unless there's a statutory requirement he hasn't mentioned and I'm unaware of, my impression is that the Feds can regulate that any way they want.
