[fill in the blank] trivia

Okay, so as previously noted, work currently sucks (not always, just right now), my brain is fried, and I am largely incapable of anything resembling a coherent thought. Hence, the Rock 'n' Roll. Well, there's also the fact that people seem to be enjoying it.

With that in mind, please email or drop in the comments your votes for what should come next. I have definite plans for some or part, perhaps even all, of the following:

Rock 'n' Roll Trivia (Beatles Edition)
Rock 'n' Roll Trivia (Roy Orbison Edition)
Rock 'n' Roll Trivia (Rolling Stones Edition) - special note: apologies to anyone offended, but I detest "Angie" and pretty much anything that came after it, they should have broken up in 1970 as the Beatles had the good sense to do.

Country/Western Trivia (Johnny Cash Edition)
Country/Western Trivia (Statler Brothers Edition)
Country/Western Trivia (Johnny Horton Edition)
Country/Western Trivia (Marty Robbins Edition)

I also have plans for, perhaps, a bluegrass series, perhaps a folk series, and almost certainly a BANJO series, once Cullen gets back from his foray into being one of the Landed Gentry.

Drop your votes for the next edition(s) in the comments or in private emails, especially if you have something other than what's listed above; I'm happy to do any I'm familiar with and just as happy to do something else (with proper attribution, of course!) Please let me know. Because otherwise I will forget. You know how people my age are, right Julie?

Bite my lily-white – um... er... damn, it was on the tip of my tongue...

Posted by: Julie at June 19, 2007 08:46 PM

Yeah, sucks, don't it?

I say Statler Brothers, because I will KICK ASS.

Posted by: Lisa at June 20, 2007 06:55 AM

Ooh! A challenge! I like it!

If you decide to do a Roger Miller version, just give me the trophy now.

Posted by: Emily at June 20, 2007 07:09 AM

Oh hell, I knew that.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at June 20, 2007 07:17 AM

Bee Gees version.

Seriously, stop looking at me like that. They're great and you have a big catalogue to choose from.

Posted by: nightfly at June 20, 2007 07:59 AM

I sha'n't stop looking at you like that. And my mockery shall be fierce.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at June 20, 2007 08:20 AM

I actually kind of had to look away to be honest, nightfly.

One of my earliest music-related memories is dancing around my older brother's kiddie record player with the LP of the soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever." How it fit on there, I'll never know. Bee Gees, good times.

My parents substantially downsized their vinyl collection (I know! Pity!) but they still have all the Sesame Street ones, which we now play for my toddler niece as she marches around my parents' dining room table. (Obviously the dancing gene is recessive and my SIL's side took over, LOL.) And I still remember a lot of the lyrics to those. Although I think the Pintsters might revolt if I asked for Sesame Street trivia--not quite Rock 'n' Roll, is it?

Posted by: Kate P at June 20, 2007 08:46 AM

Hey, Sesame Street rocks.

I'd like to see a Schoolhouse Rock Trivia, myself.

Posted by: Julie at June 20, 2007 09:10 AM

Schoolhouse Rock - sweet, but there would probably be actual bloodshed with all of us 30-ish folk trying to get the answers in first.

And "Look Away" is CHICAGO, not the Bee Gees, silly. (And it's lousy Chicago, to boot.)

Posted by: nightfly at June 20, 2007 09:31 AM

Chicago, the Bee Gees. Whatever. They both suck.

Posted by: Emily at June 20, 2007 09:40 AM

We used to call them The Squeegees.

But I heard one of the Gibbs in an interview a few years ago, saying 'Yeah, make fun of us, but you all DANCED to our music, and you KNOW it!'
He has a point, I guess. But that's probably one of my most favorite movie moments: John Travolta walking down the street, swinging his... paint can.
:-)

Posted by: Julie at June 20, 2007 09:46 AM

Ew.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at June 20, 2007 09:56 AM

And for the record, I have never danced to disco in any form.

Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at June 20, 2007 09:56 AM

Correction, Julie. Travolta did not walk down the street. He strutted.

And that Gibb dude can suck it. I have never danced to a Bee Gees song. Someone once told me that gave you herpes.

And a penchant for wearing polyester as well, Emily?

As for Schoolhouse Rock--in the past week I can't tell you how many people starting bringing up their songs when I told them I was writing a paper on The Electric Company for one of my library courses. The confusion is a little odd--maybe I'm just fonder of Electric Co. b/c they taught me to read before preschool--but I can appreciate the palpable affection for Schoolhouse Rock.

Put me down for the Statlers. Lisa, bring it on!
