I wouldn't have expected it.
US Weekly has had enough of the P***s H****n storyHeh. Posted by Ken S at June 27, 2007 05:15 AM | TrackBack (0) |

Article Launched: 06/26/2007 11:09:39 PM PDTP***s H****n gets out of jail on Tuesday and she won't be on the cover of US Weekly on Friday?
How, short of the Apocalypse, is this possible?
"When it came down to it, the staff and I felt what I believe a lot of people in America are feeling. Which is just enormous P***s fatigue," US Weekly Editor Janice Min told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
As a result, H****n not only won't be on the cover, there won't even be a mention of her in the magazine.
"I don't think," Min joked, "we even mention the city of P***s."
I never, ever thought I could muster words of praise for a crap rag like US Weekly until now. Well, except for the fact that they could have just halted coverage without announcing it so that we all had to bear yet ANOTHER useless Skanky McHotel headline.
But seriously, when a magazine like that - whose bread and butter are jag-offs like Le Skank - decide they're not going to run stories about It anymore, it's probably the most drastic example of celebrity fatigue truly settling over an entire country we will ever witness in our lifetimes.
Posted by: Emily at June 27, 2007 06:22 AMI'd shout "Huzzah!", but I gave up on almost all weekly magazines years ago, especially on US Weekly. The best I can must is a yawn.
Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at June 27, 2007 06:42 AMProps to Julie for making me snicker this early in the morning!!!
I don't know whether to agree with Emily that there is some sort of cancellation effect to run a story that they're not running a story about Rodentface, or to tell Ricki that THIS is the real apocalypse--that such a rag wouldn't jump all over the story. *shudder*
Posted by: Kate P at June 27, 2007 06:46 AMJulie - I've NEVER been envious of the city of Pa**s. ;)
Posted by: nightfly at June 27, 2007 07:15 AMMe neither. Never wanted to see either P***s, as a matter of fact.
Ya gotta admit, tho, 'Fly, that the vision of a snotty Frenchman (ala Monty Python) is eerily similar to a snotty Pa**s crying, "Mommy! Make it stop!" or whatever she whined as she was led out of the courtroom.
(curtsy to Kate P) :-)
Posted by: Julie at June 27, 2007 07:27 AMJulie,
I believe her exact words were "Mommy, you were supposed to pay off the Sheriff so this wouldn't happen!"
Or something like that.
Posted by: Emily at June 27, 2007 07:33 AMEh, I'm gonna be cynical here.
US is doing this to get publicity. They know this is going to be ALL OVER the news channels (that's some weird recursivity - almost Hasselhoff-recursion-grade recusivity - news channels reporting more about a gossip rag that's refusing to report about the main thing the news channels have been reporting on for weeks).
It's a PR move.
I'd be willing to bet she's back in next week.
(And I'm wondering: what happened to her alleged jailhouse conversion?)
Posted by: ricki at June 27, 2007 08:52 AMRicki,
I read an article a couple of days ago that basically argued that this whole thing was a PR move on the part of Paris because she's broke and living off of credit and her parents and knew she'd be able to cash in on the teary-eyed interviews post-incarceration. Talk about cynical. I don't know if it's true, but I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised.
The NY Post did one of its best covers this week concerning P*** H*****: V-D Day! P**** liberated, bimbos rejoice. It was so good that posted the picture at my place. I'm even trying to get a paper copy to laminate.
Posted by: physics geek at June 28, 2007 06:52 AMp.g., did it have a big photo of a skank tongue-kissing a sailor? That would be the only thing that would make it even funnier.
Posted by: ricki at June 28, 2007 08:55 AMthe best part of that picture with paris was that the band in the background was my grandfather's Jose Morand and his Orchestra... I haven't seent he paper yet, nor do I have a copy but if by chance someone gets a copy and feels like sending it via email to tungpo8@aol.com I would be forever greatful. Sad that m grandfather who was a world famous musician but led a quiet life accomplished so much but will be remembered most recently for being in the background of the PARIS HILTON doctored up photo...
