Jeebus. What a bunch of feckin' retards.
Secularist Europe Silences Pro-Lifers and CreationistsAssholes. Evolutionists win on the merits of the case. We don't need retarded bureaucrats suppressing people. And for those who didn't know it, "Darwinism" (at least, strict Darwinism) is still hotly debated. If you have a problem with it, I have no problem with that, unless you try to force it on schools (read the links for the reasons).

Monday, June 25, 2007Last week, a German court sentenced a 55-year old Lutheran pastor to one year in jail for "Volksverhetzung" (incitement of the people) because he compared the killing of the unborn in contemporary Germany to the holocaust. Next week, the Council of Europe is going to vote on a resolution imposing Darwinism as Europe's official ideology. The European governments are asked to fight the expression of creationist opinions, such as young earth and intelligent design theories. According to the Council of Europe these theories are "undemocratic" and "a threat to human rights."
At the same time, I have very big issues with punishing people for disagreeing about abortion. My views on the subject are irrelevant. You simply don't jail people for disagreeing with current law.
Unless you're a EUnuch, apparently.
Via Diana, who, I'm sure, disagrees with me on the subject. I'm sure she also disagrees with me on abortion. That's no reason to jail either one of us for our views.

Posted by: Boy Named Sous at June 27, 2007 10:33 PMWell of course you don't jail people just for disagreeing with you.
Unless, of course, we're talking about banjos. In which case the offending banjo-dier should, in the least, be jailed for crimes against humanity.
Posted by: Cullen at June 28, 2007 03:31 AMI'm sure there are a lot of other reasons to jail you, Ken.
Posted by: Mr. Bingley at June 28, 2007 03:48 AMYes, but the banjo isn't one of them.
Posted by: Ken S, Fifth String on the Banjo of Life at June 28, 2007 05:25 AMFree speech is dead in Europe and the Left is trying to kill it in the US.
Posted by: Zendo Deb at June 28, 2007 05:52 AMYes, but the banjo isn't one of them.
Yes, but that's only because your skills are such that people feel sorry for you as opposed to being offended that you're playing the banjo.
Posted by: Cullen at June 28, 2007 05:56 AMI seem to recall Europe having a similar problem some 60 odd years ago.
Nope, people never learn.
Posted by: The_Real_JeffS at June 28, 2007 06:43 AMIntelligent design theories are a threat to human rights? WTF? Undemocratic? You have got to be kidding me.
Posted by: Emily at June 28, 2007 07:47 AMOrwellian, ain't it? "Undemocratic" redefined to mean "anything I don't like." Geez, win the argument, don't make the argument illegal.
The punishment for such things, btw, is to eventually forget why one held a particular position in the first place, and to be unable to defend that position. IF that were the only problem I'd say that the EUrocrats were just getting what they deserved, but along the way, they make it easier to destroy the innocent, either throught the government or private mobs.
Posted by: nightfly at June 28, 2007 08:18 AMI wonder if the people who are applauding this move in Europe have considered that if the government can ban speech you DON'T like, they can just as well ban speech you DO.
And for that matter, they can then ban you from complaining about it.
Look, the whole "creationism should be taught in the public schools" argument makes my head kinda spin around, but I'd never want people banned from making that argument.
Posted by: ricki at June 28, 2007 08:54 AMCrazy stuff like this makes me want to go hug a copy of the Bill of Rights. Tell me again why some legislators think we should look to Europe as models for laws here?
Posted by: Kate P at June 28, 2007 11:10 AMKate,
Because they're flipping morons.
The weirdest part is not that they're jailing Pastor Lerle, but the reason: On 14 June, a court in Erlangen ruled that, in doing so, the pastor had "incited the people" because his statement was a denial of the holocaust of the Jews in Nazi-Germany.
How is saying that abortion is bad and extra-bad because it's like the Holocaust a denial of the Holocaust? It's rather an affirmation that the Holocaust happened and was a bad thing.
I'd be a lot more worried about the Council of Europe attacking my human rights than I am about creationists. And I have a lot more creationists nearby here in the States than I do Councils of Europe.
("the dark night of fascism is always descending in the United States and yet lands only in Europe." - Revel, quoted by Wolfe.)
Posted by: Sigivald at June 28, 2007 02:55 PMThe abortion issue will be irrelevant in Europe because Europe is on its way to becoming a Caliphate anyway.
Anyway, I would consider it an honor and a privilege if you would add my blog "The Tygrrrr Express" www.blacktygrrrr.wordpress.com to your list of linked sites if you feel the quality is high. If this is request is redundant, my bad in advance.
I came across your blog through the Rottweiler's website, since I enjoy his writing.
Happy summer.
