Okay, this illustrates, I suppose, the difference between city dogs and country dogs.
I was chopping up some venison to make venison tacos this evening. I tossed a couple of pieces on the floor for Wily. He turned his nose up that them. Weird little shit.
Our previous dog, Bridget, who grew up on a ranch, used to scarf up any kind of venison that made its way to the floor.
It's not that Wily dislikes meat, he currently has a beef bone that he's been hoarding for a few days. But turning his nose up at venison? That's just frickin' weird. Sissified little city-slicker.
Posted by Ken S at June 30, 2007 06:29 PM | TrackBack (0) |Our dog is a Lhasa Apso, one of those small, "sissyfied" breeds, a true lap dog, a 20 lb. mop-with-legs. You know, one of those dogs that everyone claims "Isn't really a dog".
Offer her a piece of meat, THEN come back and tell me she "Isn't really a dog". She'll scarf down just about any scrap, but if it's dead animal protein, it freakin' dissapears. I don't call her our "pocket wolf" for nothing.

It hits the floor? My Lab is like some kind of canine SDI, her mission being to keep food from striking the floor. If it does, I actually think she's embarrassed.
Posted by: Dave E. at July 1, 2007 08:55 AMGot three cats.
One eats nothing that isn't labeled CAT FOOD. It's as though she can read.
One eats anything that has to do with dead animal, and ventures into cheese and perhaps tomato products from time to time.
One eats cat food, potato chips, bread (still in the wrapper), rubber bands, and God knows what else. Talk about a weird little thing.

My Mom once had a dog that ate sauerkraut. Actually, much like Bridget, Yorkie 'o Death, that dog would eat pretty much anything she thought was people food. Her name was Tiffy (short for Tiffany) and was a sweet little thing but brutally defensive of my mother. She once bit my Dad for trying to dance with Mom.

She loves people, especially kids (not something her breed is known for), but is very standoffish of other dogs. And it's definitely a Napoleon coplex -- the bigger the dog, the more aggressive she is towards it, she is constantly trying to go at rotties and pit bulls. The weird part, though?
She's terrified of houseflies.
Posted by: Boy Named Sous at July 1, 2007 03:35 PMHouseflies. That's funny!
Wily's wary of aggressive big dogs but mostly gets along fine and is not afraid of them.
Except that once he was very afraid of a chihuahua half his size. Very odd.
