I heard a little bit of this on the way home from work and it pissed me off all over again. I thought about fisking it but piss on it. Not worth the effort. I'm just sick of politicians pandering to the irresponsible.

What we have gotten is one lender after another trying to convince us to go deeper in debt. I can see how it would be really easy to be sold a bill of goods by these unscrupulous bastards.
From a purely pragmatic standpoint, I think it could do more harm to the economy at large to have so many people lose their houses at once, than to have some compromise worked out that will lessen the impact. I'm not even an armchair economist (the numbers intimidate me), so I don't really know what the ramifications are.
