So go here and look at the video titled "Sesame Street Not for Kids?"
Okay, I do understand why some of the material wouldn't be used today but somehow having a parental warning is a bit overmuch.
UPDATE: Thanks to Deb for pointing that that link requires a login. I thought I had gotten rid of the cookies, so I thought it didn't require it. Not to worry, though. I did find a similar (Fox version) story here:
I notice, though, that the part of the CBS version that bothered me most doesn't seem to be in that one. I did manage to find the same video on the CBS News site but can't find a way to link directly. You'll have to go there and scroll.
And just for the record, I know Gordon is a decent guy, but that part still bothers me a little.

Some time back I blogged on the political incorrectness of Mister Rogers. Let's see how the class warfare lefties respond to this lyric:
"But the very same people who are good sometimes
Are the very same people who are bad sometimes"
Wait--In November, I was discussing a NY Times article with my mom and my sister about the warning on the DVD's for the first season b/c it was set in the inner city--is that what you're talking about? I got it from the Signs of the Times blog (man, I miss Kate Bluett). The link to the article in her post ("C is for Cretinous Television Executives") still works.
Posted by: Kate P at January 21, 2008 10:38 AMThat's it, though the particular issues are not about the inner city per se. I kinda sorta understand why some of those would not be used now but I think a "parental guidance" warning is a little much. Kids today, while they may be "safer" in some ways, are really missing a lot.
What really shocked me, though, was seeing Gordon with hair.
Alan: Didn't you know that Mister Rogers was fascist Bushitlerite?
