If You're in the Market for A Guy Fawkes Mask

...you might want to consider mail order. Since members of "Anonymous" have taken to wearing them at their protests, apparently the Clams are lingering in stores that sell them and following the people who purchase one.

Is it Friday yet?

I suppose I should read the series to find out why the character chose a mask of a guy (heh) who lost.

And got hanged for it.

Bah...I'll just wear a scarf. It should still be cold enough on the 15th.

I'll sum it up for you: In V for Vendetta the character of V wears a Guy Fawkes mask as he fights a fascist British government in a dystopian future. He speaks in verse and kicks a lot of ass.

I'm sure there's more to it, but I've only seen the movie. It was a fair film.

Yeah, but if he's plotting treason, why pick a failed traitor? That's the part I don't get. Might as well pick a Nixon mask.

So he should have worn a George Washington mask? Treason is a point of view, after all. Had Fawkes been successful in returning Catholic rule to England, he would be written up as a great hero.

The choice of a Fawkes mask is appropriate, considering the character's plan (in the movie) is to successfully carry out the Gunpowder Plot by blowing up Parliament.

Was it successful?

Naturally, he's the hero of the story. Blew the whole building apart to a cheering crowd.

Yeah, I'd always assumed it was a V for Vendetta thing and not a nod to Fawkes himself.

I knew the current use was a V for Vendetta thing (of course, I had to look it up). I was just amused that someone trying to blow up Parliament would wear the mask of a guy who failed at it.
