Speaking of Barbecues

Congratulations, Montreal! You keep showing that inner Frenchie we know you all cling to!

Huh. I didn't realize that Lakers fans were French too.

I can't remember the last time Lakers fans rioted, but they do have the obnoxious habit of running to their cars and driving around honking their horns after a win. I don't even have to check the scores to know when they've won a game.

Oops. Forgot to change that back after my last comment...

Hee...well it seems to work coming from Chippy, too.

And speaking of barbecues...so Quebec is now home to some of those "unspecified" Youths that caused so many problems for Paris? Pity, that.

(Perhaps it's time for us to start beefing up the US/Quebec border?)

Ricki,
This kind of stuff is par for the course in Canadian cities with NHL teams, especially when they advance in the playoffs. Hockey's like football is down here. It's practically the national religion.

Ah...I stand corrected.

So it's like what happened in Ann Arbor, back in the late 80s, when U-M won the NCAA basketball championship?

(I had an exam the next day and was FURIOUS because I couldn't sleep for all the noise, sirens, and tipped-over police cars. At least they didn't set them on fire...)

After spending six weeks there in law school, I'm actually a big fan of Montreal, most of the time, but, yeah, what you said. "Unspecified youths" plus the ubiquitous unspecified "smoked meat" and French fries covered in "poutine," the most foul supposedly edible substance known to Man.

I believe that's pronounced "Yutes".

Posted by: Julie at April 23, 2008 07:30 AM

I thought "yutes" was in Jersey?

Just imagine if the Bruins had won.

'Fly,
I'm pretty sure people would have died.
